Pesticide in Water Testing

Pesticide Analysis

What are Pesticides?

Pesticides are chemicals used to control pests such as insects, larva, fungi and weeds. While most pesticides are intended as crop protection, they are used by many including food suppliers, farmers, wildlife services, groundkeepers, households, gardeners, disease and pest control services and councils.

Why Test For Pesticides?

While pesticides are enormously useful for pest control, they are potentially toxic to humans.

The source of pesticides is often more challenging to determine than other compounds. Therefore, a laboratory consultation may be needed to decide if the suspect contaminant is a herbicide, a fungicide or an insecticide.

If you suspect that increased agricultural or industrial activity in the region has caused the contamination, then this test is recommended.

Our team of experts operate in house from our ISO 17025 accredited laboratories. Samples can be taken as specified by the licence conditions and tested in our in house laboratory. Results are issued on an official certificate of analysis. Any exceedances of permitted values can be highlighted along with the results.

Irish Water/EPA Monitoring List of Pesticides in Drinking Water

Southern Scientific Services is Ireland’s only laboratory with INAB ISO-accreditation for the Irish Water and EPA’s monitoring list of pesticides in drinking water.

Using a combination of GC-MSMS and LC-MSMS, we can detect pesticides at the nanogram per litre level.

Parameters include; Pendimethalain, Dichlobenil, Dieldrin, Cypermethrin, 2, 3, 6-Trichlorobenzoic Acid, 2,4 D, 2,4 DB, Bentazone, Boscalid, Clopyralid, Dicamba, Dichlorprop (2,4 DP), Fluoroxypr, MCPA, MCPP (Mecoprop), Pentachlorophenol, Picloram, Triclopyr, Glyphosate, Atrazine, Chlorfenvinphos, Chlorotoluron, Chlorpropham, Diazinon, Diflufenican, Diuron, Epoxiconazole, Isoproturon, Linuron, Metaldehyde, Metazachlor, Propzamide & Simazine
